Escaping Reality

I lay away,
The minutes
Chasing hours
Falling into days.

I blink away
The blinding
Seconds,
The taunting
Weeks.

Each heart beat,
once again
Pumps blood
To my
Waiting veins.

Each breath
Forming
A tantalizing
Cacophony
Just like the
Ones before.

My fingers
Trace
The folds
Of whispering
Blanket green.

My finger-prints,
Clinging to
Each fiber.

Heavy lids
Hiding from
Me
The roof
Above.

And then I
Drift away
To a sweet
slumber.

I wrote this after waking up from a nap, thinking about how sleep brings me peace.
