No Laughter Belongs
There used to be laughter…
Smiling eyes and smooth pats on the back…
But what happened to all of it?
They are only blank chuckles rising up from the back of our throats…
They don’t fool anyone…
Not even ourselves.
I want to say I’m angry…
I want to say I’m mad…
But we all sit there just thinking about what we want…
Not what any of us need.
May be we never will…
And maybe we will all too soon.
Time will tell.
As for now…
Laughter doesn’t belong.
Laughter is a stranger.
Laughter is our new disease.
