Frustration

Down the hall
Out side of my class
I hear the click-clacking
Of heels against the tiled floors
I try to push it out of my mind
Focus.
Focus.
Eighty three times two hundred an—
Click.
One thousand thirty two divided by—
Clack.
Take off your damn heels, woman.
Click.
Wear sneakers, or even flats.
I don’t really care
Clack.
I hate her. I don’t know her, but I do
Click
I bet she has a loud voice
And she snaps her gum
And wears miniskirts
Plastered to thick thighs
Ridden with cellulite
Clack.
I shudder.
Not just the sound
But the image
Click.
I despise you, girl
With your high heels
And popping gum
Your pierced tongue
And your damn heels
Especially your damn heels
Clack.
I have long given up on
Focus
Click.
And this is why I hate
Study Skills.
Clack.

I wrote this about the frustration of distractions when I'm trying to focus.
