Walking Away

I'm walking down this lonely road
Because I have no other place to go.
I feel like I'm the only one traveling tonight,
But I know that can't be right.
I'm walking away from you,
And I think that you're letting go too.
At least I hope you are,
Because I only want to save your heart.

I know that right now it hurts,
But believe me, it could be much worse.
It simply wouldn't be fair,
Because I would never be there
By your side, where I'd belong.
And please excuse If I am wrong,
But that would only cause you more pain
Than I am now by walking away.
I'm a bit selfish, I'm afraid,
And I can only hope I'm not too late.
