pain of love

slowly he slips down the valley
and floats down the stream
always out of my reach
as he torments me with his sweet comments and smiles
tears slowly drip down my face as a smile arises
the words like sweet thorns piercing my skin
it is wonderful
then miserable
chasing him down the creek
tripping over rocks and sticks
knowing he is out of grasp
hoping that this pain will last
