The unknowing
Is slowly stabbing
Our gut with what is
To come.

It has taken forever
To finally cross
This bridge.
But now,

We get this square
Piece of paper
With some scribbles
Written askew

And we look at it for
Our secret map
And compass
To lead the way

Everyone cries for joy,
throwing their caps
in the air.

But still no one knows
What to do next.
We look to each other
For some answers
Because we have just realized

Where we are.

"Expect the Unexpected"

Im now a senior, just about to walk across my stage next month. I've written a poem very similar to this about a month and 1/2 ago. I feel aswell that the years have snuck up on me. seems like only yesterday I was a child in elementary school, but now Im a young woman getting out of high school.

I am a senior as well, and senior year has definitely snuck up on me. It feels like just yesterday was my first day of freshman year, and now I'm the one walking across the stage. This poem was so easy to relate to. You are an amazing writer.
