Poison
Poison tastes like broken promises
and forgotten birthdays.
Poison burns down the throat
like my face burns when you tell
my secrets. And I find out.
Poison smells like bulimic waste
and your habits I don’t understand.
Poison sounds like gossip around
the corridor that grabs hold and
constricts. No mercy.
Have an Emily moment and
buy the arsenic—rat poison.
Pour it in a cup. Close your
eyes.
Poison loves revenge, so open your mouth.
I am poison.
Drink up.
