She's got her hair up in curls
Her neck's bejeweled with a thousand pearls
Irresistible, for sure
All awestruck by her demure
Lights
Bright starry night
But her face is indistinguishable
Gold brocades with satin ribbons
Feathers plastered intricately
While with her hand delicately
The raised disguise still remains
Shadowy
Hidden
Faces
Her eyes the deepest color of jade
Who is she? I'm at a loss for her name
Curse you...
Masquerade.

The author's comments:
For my seventeenth birthday, I had a masquerade themed party. One of my close friends met this girl who he immediately began to crush on but since she kept her mask on the whole time and he forgot to ask for her name or number. These events inspired me to write this piece.
