The Change
Evidence of misery streamed down her face.
She buried her memories,
Never knowing when they would stop reminding her of the change
She doesn’t know if things will ever be the same.
Saying good bye, the hardest part.
She hid her pain,
Not wanting to be remembered depressed.
She doesn’t know if anything else will be remembered.
Surrounded by peers, yet so alone,
She merely wished for a friend;
Not wanting to get too close,
She doesn’t know how long it will last.
Now with multitudes of companions,
She let go,
Some, but not completely.
She doesn’t want to forget her past.
Like a setting sun,
Her memories disappeared.
Fading slowly,
She didn’t notice till it was almost too late.
Hindered by the present,
She couldn’t remember the past,
Not that she didn’t like the new,
But the past is a part of her,
A part she doesn’t want to give up.
