She was waiting for such a long time.
Minutes seconds hours,
man’s futile attempt at constraining time,
ticked by until she could think of nothing but the waiting,
waiting, dragging at her soul
and etched on her mind.
It wouldn’t be so bad, she thought,
if everyone else was waiting too,
but no.
people hurried by to nowhere in particular,
everywhere in particular,
while she was stuck in the ever flowing stream of time.

The author's comments:
I've always seen time as some kind of body of water, constantly flowing, constantly living. Those who struggle against the flow, whether to slow down or speed up, only tire themselves. Patience, I've realized, is not controlling yourself in that stream, but letting go. Only when you surrender to that great force can you truly be at peace.
