Angel Wings

Unexpected
Although he was slightly ill
We had no idea this tragedy would occur

I arrived home at quarter after eleven
“He has passed”
Cold, salty tears stream down my pale cheek

My heart
Torn in half
Ripped for eternity
My life will never be the same without him
Without Charlie

He was often colicky
But as sweet as a button
His smiles would brighten my day

Although I cannot see him visibly
He is always my little angel
My brother
Leaning over me
Helping me through hard times

And he will always have
His little angel wings

What inspired me to write this poem was the death of my baby brother Charlie.
