The Wall That Built Me
strong and hopelessly bland
the wall that built me is –
a cinderblock nightmare
a lonely prison
lonely
even though I’m never alone
trapped
I feel trapped
and I’m wrapped in a wall
the cinderblocks are gone
now red brick
now steel cage
replaced
fenced in
“don’t be late”
my cage has been broken
the sun warms my face
and NOW!!!
the only thing holding me back
is a white picket fence with –
an open latch
