I Sit and Look

I sit and look
as if through a bedroom window,
at my friends playing outside.
Playing all my favorite games,
and every once and a while looking up at me
calling, “Come down and play with us.”
But I can’t get past the window.
no matter how much I want to,
no matter how hard I try
I can only watch,
I can only wish.
