I'd like to sleep,
but you won't permit such actions.
I'd rather be in the library hiding in a heap of books,
somewhere
in one of those sunbleached chairs -
near the back, pestered by those plants, of course -
reading some musty old book a kid
hasn't touched since 1994 (I was born a year before)
because it's
old
and smells like permanent marker and
the basement where treasures are buried
somehow.

No, really, I'd like to learn this someday
if you didn't answer my questions
with your pompous eyeroll -
such arrogance burns!
I'd rather learn who told you about
me -
a little birdy doesn't know jack
(or even jill)
about what you know in that auburn curled
mind
of yours that looks so
synthetically
genetical - somewhere your mitochondria overpowered your cells
with ATP and now growth is uncontrollable..

you have a tumor for a brain?

I think we'd like to operate now.
