" Be the change you want to see in the world " - Mahatma Gandhi

Am I less of a being because I wear fur?
Should I be confined to a cage because I purr?
Am I less of a being because I don't look the same?
Does my difference in appearance mean I'm immune to pain?

Is this fair to belittle me and take away my life?
You might as well rip out my heart and stab it with a knife.
In darkness I hurt and in silence I cry.
In anguish I live and in loneliness I die.

I wrote this poem to give a voice to the often unheard. Animal Cruelty is a concern that most people are ignorant of. I hope this poem inspires teens to educate themselves to really understand what happens to animals when they are used for our own personal gain.
