"We're all waiting for something." dunno who its by but i like it

Love is not the relationships I grew up seeing...
Love is not the hurt, the beating, the screaming...

Love is laughter, cheer, joy...
Love is a little girl chasing a little boy...

Love is not putting on a forced, fake smile...
Love is not a pressured walk down an isle...

Love is patience for the slow and weak...
Love is, as it seems, a complicated, never-ending game of hide-and-seek...

Love is not picking... choosing... leaving...
Love is not that lustful, meaningless... hurtful, evening...

Love should be simple; yet always disguised love is hard...
Love, the love I've seen, leaves me silently, distortedly, eternally
... scarred.

The author's comments:
I had to write a poem for my English 2 class about what love is not and this is what I came up with. Though the majority of this poem is dreary and depressing, some of the lines are great memories like my first crush and my brother's patience with me are two great inspirations(: so please don't look at this poem as dark or gloomy. I called it 'the after effects' because these are some reasons for why believe certain things are the way they are in life.
