I Love You

You spend the night like always.
“I love you with all my heart.” I whisper as you sleep.
I know you love me but not the same.
“Nothing will ever change that.” I promise as I fall asleep.
I know you love me but not the same.
“Nothing will ever tear us apart.” You say as you sleep.
I know you love me but that’s not true.
“I am ugly.” You whimper as you sleep.
You know I love you and that’s not true.
“You’re my best friend.” You murmur when you see that I’m still by your side.
I know you love me but not like that.
“You know I’ll always be your friend.” I reply sadly.
I know you love me but not like that.
You frown, “Is that bad?’
I love you and I wish we could be more.
I put on a smile to hide my sadness and reply, “Of course not.”
I love you and wish we could be more.
“You’re the best! That’s why I love you!” you laugh, a laugh that melts my heart.
You love me as a friend and with that I die in side.
Tonight like before I whisper as you sleep, “I love you with all my heart.”
I know you love me but not the same.
But this night is different.
Because this night I can’t stand the pain.
All my time is spent.
This IS the end of our friendship.
This WILL tear us apart FOREVER, it may hurt you too.
I can’t stand just being friends.
So with my last words before it’s over.
“I LOVE YOU.”
