Energy rushes through my body
in short jolts
like lightning.
I smear raspberry red across my lips,
adding the shine that makes
a million stars shoot.

Darting eyes peer at me,
long lashes reaching for the sky.
Thrill sneaks back up my toes,
running across my heart.

Tying our laces,
we dart away from reality
into a labyrinth of dreams.

I wrote this piece because I wanted to capture the first time a person has extreme romantic feelings for another person.

Beautiful use of imagery, it makes me remember the first time I fell in love.
