Reflection
The sun is just warm enough
to remind me
of late summer barbeques
and the clink of ice in a cold soda.
That crisp autumn breeze
whispers through the emerald grass,
growing in its freedom.
Embracing me.
My face flawlessly reflected
In the cool depths of a springtime pond.
Like I am trapped beneath the water,
Trying to escape.
Just one small acorn,
Disturbs the glassy surface,
Shattering my image,
Because that’s all it takes.
