A Young Girl's Story: From Tears to Cuts

A young girl goes to school,

On the verge of tears.
She eats lunch with her 'Friends'
And just wants them to say,

"You okay? You okay?"

She goes to school tomorrow,

With cuts on her hand.
She hangs out with her 'Friends'
And just wants them to say,

"You okay? You okay?"

Another year goes by;
Filled with good and bad.
She still has the same "Friends"
And they haven't yet said,

"You okay? You okay?"

Now she goes back to school,

Cuts on hand and leg.
She knows they won't notice,

But maybe now with a

Wince at every step.

Someone might just say,

"You okay? You okay?"

If you think someone

Is having a bad day,

Always stop to say,

"You okay? "You okay?"

Last night I had trouble sleeping. A wave of sadness came over me and I thought about how I'm not noticed by my new friends. I scratched into my leg with a sharp piece of metal. I thought about why I was doing this and it came out in this poem.
