a flirtatious banter
striking of the match
he dumped her best friend for her
the match was tossed into the woods
she got a little curious

he asked her out
she said no
the forest fire started
he asked again
she said yes
the fire flared
she claimed she didn’t like him
she dumped him
the fire dimmed and glowed like embers
he tried to make her jealous
it worked
the fire roared with passion
he broke her heart
she broke his too
the fire only grew and grew
the fire changes from friendship, to love, and back again.
best friends and true loves
two of a kind against the world
but now after all the fire has been tested by...

she trusted him
he broke that trust
the fire smoldered
they tried again
but disaster seemed to strike over and over again
finally she got kicked out
he crossed a line
she couldn’t take it
the fire was extinguished
the bridges are burned
the friendship has died.
