The soldier holds a pen
and gentley writes with his hand
I'm here, fighting for freedom
the letter slowly began
I wish I was with you, but right now; you know I can't
If I don't make it home, I just want you to know
to save this Soldier's Letter - to not let it go
A tear strolled down his cheek
it landed on the paper - messed up the ink
Please tell the kids I love them - tell them not to let go
their daddy will always be with them, tell them I miss them so
keep this Soldier's Letter - do not let it go
He signed the letter with his name
flipped over the envelope
and with his pen - wrote these last words
before mailing it in
keep this forever;
this is the offical Soldier's Letter
