Toes brush
through fifth
heel first
and around

Toes strike
concrete
through torn
jazz shoes

Wind blows
your hair
throws you
off balance

change, jump,

Heart pounds
to the beat
"don't forget
to breathe"

"Glide, shimmy, step step, arabesque
Glide, shimmy, jazz square, arabesque"

"And hold
hold
hold
squeeze
squeeze
squeeze"

Adrenaline rush
slowly fades
Tension grows
you love this feeling

Music stops
"and relax"

your leg lowers
and
crash.

This is about a time when I was rehearsing for Seussical the Musical out on the concrete terrace of the studio one day.
