The Light in Darkness

I envy the blind man.

Who sees life and death
And nothing in between.

Who knows beauty and pain
Without ever seeing it.

Who measures freedom and captivity
Differently than I.

For my eyes are liars.
Deceitful liars.
Deceitful, abandoning liars.

Deceiful, abandoning liars
That give me hope and despair
In the blink of an eye.

Who cheated me of sight
By giving me sight.

Who caged me with bars
And called it a blessing.

Who punish me with change
Without reparation.

I envy the blind man.

The innocent,
Self serving
Blind man.

wow... liked it - made me think...
i esp. like the section "who knows beauty and pain without ever seeing it"
we base so much on sight and this poem just made me think about importance of sight and wonder why it has so much power...
keep it up!

This was absolutely marvelous. It's like reading an old poem in modern form. Keep it up!
