- What Matters
“Take a seat”, they say
“We won’t judge you for doing it your way”.
Shiny smiles, an innocent look.
Acting as if they perfected the friend rulebook.
It’s all a lie.
Mean girls acting sly.
Forging your trust,
Making your ‘friendship’ a must
They’ll use you, test you, and hurt you
Take your food at lunch with a smile as a cue.
Ask you for the gossip so they can be first in the relevant race,
Then talk behind your back, saying what they can’t say to your face.
And all you can do is go with it,
Because they have trapped you, bit by bit.
Everyone says, “Get an adult to help.” but that will make it worse,
As these fake friends are a lifelong curse.
Beware of society,
The cruelest place to be.
Since what it does, is twist and turn,
Until the fire inside it is causing you to burn.
