When you toss sadness to the wind, it returns as just a dream

from what you always feared

At the top of tomorrow waits a gasp of air,

the sound of relief from your dream just being a dream

If you jump into the present, you’ll land on a lake pier

surrounded by all your friends

At the edge of silver is the side of the glimmering boat,

just as you step onto it

If you turn hope on high, you’ll see the color white

the biggest smiles on all your friend’s faces

The author's comments:

My biggest fear is losing my friends, like disconnecting with them, I don't know how that could happen, but it's a fear as we all start to get ready for college. They were/are my whole life, everything we do is together. So when I talk about a dream, it something that doesn't happen in real life, so I am trying to make a point by saying losing my friends will never happen.

Im 18 years old, my name is Autumn Winzenried, and I go to Arrowhead High School.
