"Irony [is] the song of a prisoner who's come to love his cage" - David Foster Wallace

Shaking travels, tiny oscillations, frenzied static

that reach out, pleading to be sledged down by some hammer in ecstasy

Hover just outside of a box

Streaming multicolored lines escape my body, through my arms and chest

In movements of furious speed, streamers making loops of impatience in on themselves

Twirling through an air that falls behind

Defy gravity with the weight of hungry curiosity and high bar for stimulus

Squeeze these corners tight and watch the streamers fall blank, fall dead

Wrapped back and shoved in some suitcase of beige belongingness

Take a scented marker and run it across my wrist in a show of childishness

Blue raspberry gum wrappers scattered at my feet,

the false aluminum courses through my veins

it is an extra layer of skin against the world’s barrage of toothpicks

I wear a costume of confetti and rush cartwheels through the crowd

Stand on my head and look around

In hand-extended loneliness, longing for some direction

Just a show of affection

For the brain of a youth

Words escape my mouth in hovered sentences that don’t make it through the medium

The supine air is a dome of disconnect

So I will mummify me in streamers of cotton candy

And put on a silver watch

Dowse the world in flames of technicolor

Fly over hologram hopscotch

Kick up cubes I pass over with my feet

And raise my face to the sun, thumping hands against the seat

Life a perfect soundwave,

Strike the sky against the beat
