Undesired thinking

Deep in my mind

A thought floats by

Like a leaf drifting in the wind

With no specific destination.

Suddenly it lands,

But it stands in the least desired part of my mind.

It knows I don't want it to linger there,

But it stays anyway.

Harsh pain runs through my heart

A feeling I cannot shake away.

I seek for help,

left and right I look,

but no one is willing to help me.

I struggle to ascend from the dark hole

But the thought pulls me back.

I have no energy to keep fighting,

It takes over.

My body,

My soul,

My heart,

My mind.

All aching in despair.

If only I could’ve been there,

Told him about how grateful I was,

Explain how lucky I felt,

Reminded him of all the good times we went through.

But life is not like that,

Life is not fair,

Because one day

He left.

With no goodbye,

No I love you,

Nothing.

Million of words unsaid,

But I know someday I'll see you again.

And that day

I'll tell you what I really feel.

This piece was inspired by my dad, who passed away a few years ago. We all have unwanted thoughts that we wish we could block out, but sometimes, as hard as we try, we can't.
