Obstacles do not block the path, they are the path.

There I was

Out on a run in the park

When my eyes saw you.

You ran too.

Your short hair waved with the wind

Ever so gently.

flawless eyes

Caught mine immediately,

And my face burned red.

You didn’t

stare back at me very long,

you went on your way.

But not me.

Your appearance held me tight

Enchanting my thoughts.

It is wrong

I know you're two years ahead,

I've heard from others.

They all talk

About your looks and your speed

Constantly it seems.

But for me,

I'm an unpopular, average

Sophomore.

We won't click

And our ages, they don’t fit

It wouldn't make sense.

Oh, I wish

That we could meet, walk, talk,

Maybe even flirt.

It’s silly,

For me to dream hopelessly

About you and I.

I'm aware

I'm the lone one questining

How you are doing.

You don't care.

I've never even met you

Unfortunately.

How could I?

I'm having these pointless thoughts

Of us together.

It’s nonsense

So I’ll keep admiring you

From a distance.

It pains me

To know so, but I can't be

with someone like you
