Traitor
I am a traitor to my country
In this land divided by walls
all that remains are my memories
I am a traitor to my family
First generation with no actual future
On an endless road that leads to no diploma
I am a traitor to my tongue
"Get rid of your accent"
"You talk so funny"
So whitewash I can't even roll my Rs
I am a traitor to my culture
My brown skin has never felt so pale
I'm unable to differentiate who I really am
Short, dark girl
My skin the color of coper
My nose arched
The blood of my people running through my veins....and yet I am no better than a stereotype
I am a wolf in sheep clothing
Pretending to know who I am
Pretending to know who my people are
I walked the path that they all did
But I slowly drifted
Getting lost in a sea of white
I am a traitor
