Metallic clang
Shaped steel shifting sharply
I strike a rock
Anger erupts
Acidic thoughts brew brooding
The shovel raised again
Weapon of contempt
Tool of completion
My muscles lock to focus
Perspiration licks my clenching jaw
I drive my force as if a rubber band snapping suddenly
Plunging down goes the shovel
The conniving stones shift beneath my rage
Bellowing shrill cries of resistance
They do not want this hole to be dug
Rocks in rebellion
A divergence of earth and rubble
But I will dig my hole
It is my humble mission
Sweat boils on my sun-soaked skin
I am a man with a cause
A harbinger of justice
The anointed one
I will save this earth from the tyranny of gruesome granite and cynical sandstone
I am digging my life
I am cultivating hope
Malevolent entities hedge my way
I will assault them
I will bind my fate with theirs
