Our life
Looming
An intimidating stretch
Of rungs
Days...
Arching into the unknown
A climb...
Always climbing
Behind us
The void
Our past...
The more we look down
The more we focus
On what once was
What could have been
We waste moments
That could be spent
Climbing...
Improving...
Hoping...
To reach that shadowy destination
High above us
So far away
Yet so close!
