“The poet's job is to put into words those feelings we all have that are so deep, so important, and yet so difficult to name, to tell the truth in such a beautiful way, that people cannot live without it.”

Do you remember
How you loved me once upon a time?
How you always questioned me?
How you always looked for a crime?

I remember how I loved you
Well, at least, I used to
Now I think of your manipulation
And all the s*** you used to do

You pressured me for months
Because you wanted sex
I told you I wasn't ready
You didn't care of the effects

You told me you didn’t understand
How I wasn't ready if I loved you
The way you loved me
I should have taken that as my cue

You used my love for you
To get what you wanted
You never cared that
It would leave me haunted

You said it was out of love
Really it was out of your insecurity
You’re like needy child
Who never reached maturity

When I told you no more
You weren’t even hurt
You were so angry because
You had less power to exert

I left you after I snapped when you stated,
“Not going to get rid of the protection.
I think you’ll want to again.”
Believe me, after that night I felt no affection

I say I left you
Those close to me say I escaped
I told people I changed
Little did they know the surface was only scraped

I now see the relationship was abusive
And how you used your manipulation
I never understood the girls stayed
Now I see your type uses love as your persuasion

Now your friends whisper,
Throw things at me and you smile
You tell our friends not to talk to me
I see you truely now; I see your guile

I’ll let you be the sad, insecure,
Bitter, and pathetic person you are
But I believe in karma and
Trust me, you won’t get far

I will rise and be me;
Be happy, be strong, intelligent,
Empowered, confident, bold,
A force to be reckoned with

I will move mountains and heavens
And I will raise hell
I will fearlessly take on the world
While you’ll just be the angel that fell

I will be a tidal wave, a hurricane,
A wildfire, a storm in the tropics
Most of all I’ll leave negligible you
To be less than microscopic
