Music gives me the relief and the encouragement
But the music I listen to leads to disagreement
Since my parents listen to country and rock
They don’t like my music so I keep my inside on a lock
So I don’t express myself as much as I did
When I was a little kid but now I’m under a lid
It’s tough knowing that my own mom and dad
Don’t know me as much as my friends do, it’s sad
It’s also funny how society can change you
And mold you into listening to something you shouldn’t be into
And if they don’t like it, that’s too bad
At least they will always be my mom and dad
And music isn’t the only thing
My point of view seems to be different than what they’re seeing
When I don’t talk or interact with them, they say
Why don’t you hang out with us and have a good day
And I tell them every time, I do, then you don’t accept me
Then you make me the lone wolf of the family
This happens more than once too
Every time the feeling of pain sneaks and crawls into my emotions and plays peek-a-boo
And every time it shows its face
The pain gets followed by anger then it’s always a race
To see if my anger or self-control can win
Then usually my anger gets the best of me and it’s a sin
Cause it causes me to commit a crime
Then I feel like I need to make up for what I did and shine
So I can show others it’s not all pain on the inside
