the hurt

eyes too wide and gone
to know what they’ve seen
the trauma
forced goodbye and blind punch
an xylophone of a mouth
the mallets strike the keys
an orchestra of penned pain
leaking into coiled notebooks
flooding a body
with tears and dull razor blades
broken open.
the collection of memories
replaying
rewinding.
