"Mostly you can depend on a wolf to be a wolf."
-Eddie Fyres

A summer squall came suddenly and tore away my joy,

Blown away so suddenly in the stillness of the night.

The gale that blew and rain that stung made me their errant toy,

There was no option left for me but to huddle in helpless fright.

The wicked wind that brushed my hopes

Away like so much dust,

Brought me grief beyond my scope,

With each new taunting gust.

A hunger burns inside my heart,

That worsens day by day,

For a dream that died before its start,

A wish that faded away.

I clawed at it with grasping hands,

Stretching towards the light,

As it receded from my lands,

And took from me my sight.

The storm has robbed my fragile form,

Of the will that once sustained me.

Freedom can only be reborn

By the break of the pain that chains me.

The sky has opened up its rage,

And loosed it on my head,

And left me in a ghostly cage,

Trapped by newfound dread.
