To Love or Not To Love

To love or not to love: that is my deepest struggle:
Shall I turn away from the whisper of happiness,
Rejecting all chance of pain, of anguish, of pure joy
Or follow my heart's yearnings
And be free of regret. To risk, to jump,
In faith; and by jumping to say that I might
fall and shatter my heart. It is the
Decision of the century. To risk, to jump,
To jump, and perhaps to fly; yes that is
The temptation, for after flying will
I ever be contented to walk again-
Oh I dare not say-that is why
I fear love and all it represents.
For who shall pick up the pieces of my heart
the shattered bits, on the ground with nothing
holding it together, and he gives me nothing,
not even a hint, no promise of protection,
of desire. Yet just a glance, a meeting of eyes
would satisfy me; for now.

Where there is desire, there is gonna be a flame,
Where there is a flame someone's bound to get burned.
Just because it burns doesn't mean you're gonna die,
You've got to get up and try.

This is such a beautiful poem!!! I can relate to this very much and I feel that you worded it very creatively and beautifully; as I'm sure we all fear love. Truly outstanding; thank you for sharing this.
