Ode to an Orphan

Everyday a lonely theme
With sorrow upon sorrow
The image of a family fades
Too far away to recall
Tears dry up and
Eyes are barren

The soul longs for love
Inner light dims, darkness ensues
Engulfed in a black pit
Hope dwindles fast
No hand to reach, no rope to grab
Such dread and misery

Suddenly the Son cracks through
Despair is quickly lifting
New life springs into existence
Sparks ignite into flames
A hopeless soul no longer
As Love is now awake
