I can’t feel this numbness spreading,
I only know it’s there.
See its mark crawling up my arms,
The black and blue I wear.
Vast in its own emptiness,
The cold seeps through my veins.
You think I’d fight to stay alive,
By now I’m cast in chains.
I’m trembling with shame and pain,
The kind that claims the heart.
I wish I’d learned to carve the ice,
And not be made a part.
I only know it’s there.
See its mark crawling up my arms,
The black and blue I wear.
Vast in its own emptiness,
The cold seeps through my veins.
You think I’d fight to stay alive,
By now I’m cast in chains.
I’m trembling with shame and pain,
The kind that claims the heart.
I wish I’d learned to carve the ice,
And not be made a part.
