No matter how high you are, you always have to come back down.

I see him up there,

Legs dangling from the edge,

Trying to look like he has a bad boy edge—

But not today.

Today there are tears streaming down his beautiful face.

They come down like a waterfall,

As if it were a race.

Laced with sadness,

They hit me,

Like they were drops of rain.

I shout up to him,"Come down, I know your pain."

I run up the fire escape,

As if my feet caught on flame.

I'd sit there on that roof top with him as we confess,"We're lame."

I take his hand,

So warm in mine,

And take him some place else.

"Everything will be fine."

I tell him,

As I place my hand on his scars,

The ones on his back,

And the ones his dad gave him with his cigars.

"Rose and I had a fight, I can't smile like some do."

"Yes you can." I take his hand "Because I love you."

This is what I would do,

If I could stop you,

On that one horrid day.

You've moved on and away from me,

When you passed away.

I miss you so much,

My dearest friend,

In every single way.

Really sweet and I love the simplicity of it, but maybe the rhyming's a bit strained at times. Still really beautiful tho, hope I don't offend :)

This reminds me so much of my big brother, I think this is beautiful and I absolutely love it.

Thanks a bunch, it really was tragic. I wouldn't say flawless though :P

I agree...very sad! Good job with the rhyme scheme...it worked well with the poem. It was short and sweet to capture that moment. However a little more imagery can never hurt because I was a little confused the first time I read it...I really had to pay attention and read it slow in order to get every detail since they weren't emphasized. But again, a really nice piece! (My school work always end up being good poems too!) haha

I know, it was an assignment at first, but I took it and I ran with it. The assignment was what would you do if you could turn back time and do over one thing, and I picked saving my friend.

You know those tingly feelings you get when you read something genius? I just got those. This is a lovely mixture of poetry, love story, and loss. Beautiful! Check out my work, pretty please? AND KEEP WRITING.
