“The Mermaid of a Lifelong Dream”

She came up from a darkened sea

Hair was waving, full of life so free

She smiled like a newborn gazing up to the sky

Whoever knew where her heart would lie

Oh, how beautiful it was to me, just you and me

Holding hands by the darkened sea,

It wouldn’t take a spyglass just to see

How much her world completed the world for me

She made the dreams I could rest my head upon at night

She gave me glasses to see when I had lost my sight

A seamstress to stitch my heart together, when it had felt torn

And I gave her all my love, for she had none before

Oh, how beautiful it was to me, just you and me

Holding hands by the darkened sea,

It wouldn’t take a spyglass just to see

How much her world completed the world for me

When the magic has slipped right through your hands

It’s never on your mind, it never was planned

It’s all you can do not to break apart your dreams

I remember her lips, quivering another time

Hands still shaking grasping mine

Rose petals fall from a thorny vine

So I say goodbye to a lifelong dream

Once upon a time I did believe

That it truly was meant to be

But still she will always be

The most beautiful dream to me

But still she will always be

The most beautiful dream to me

The most beautiful dream to me…..
