We burned the salts
Synthetic sun
And smelled the reef
Your loaded gun

We cried a war
All said and done
Wept, "All aboard!"
Synthetic sun

And through the stars
At last we meet
Of dreams and tales
Post-modern heat

And overjoyed
We write page one
Atlas, retire
Synthetic sun

Under the influence of various science fiction writers, and even existentialist ideas, I wrote this simple poem about the direction of mankind.
