Yellow Days

Yellow for the sun shining through the rain
Yellow for a smile, a feeling you can’t feign

In the mornings, yellow is warm and soft
Above reality, it holds you aloft
Not asleep, though in dreams
Not truly awake, it seems

Yellow for a wish on a shooting star
Yellow for a kiss to heal the hearts scars

In the afternoon, yellow glows like flame
Beyond doubt, it gives hope you can’t tame
A small unconquerable spark
Holding its own against the growing dark

Yellow for my eyes, fixed on the setting sun
Yellow for relief now that the day is done

At night, yellow gives sleep
Into dreams, it digs deep
Past what is real and what is not
Taking me to the moon, on the wings of a thought
