Romeo and Juliet

Stolen moments in the dark,
Away from time and fate.
Shadows hide the lingering marks,
From those who can’t relate.
They lay beneath the paling sky,
Cheating destiny.
Waiting for the day they die,
To bear the penalty.
Forbidden love affair,
Creeping through the night.
Not a soul alone from theirs
Understands the plight.
They face an ever-coming dawn,
The threat of loss and pain.
A prayer for fate their own redrawn
So their love may not be slain
By hands and hearts that do not feel,
By minds that do not think.
The twilight seal
Is broken as the stars sink.
Rays of light release the secret,
As the sun bathes the hiding place.
The others kneel in vast regret,
As the two lay in death’s embrace.
