Today I broke my sternum
And the doctors said I would die
I knew if I told you, my love
I would see you cry
So I lied and said, “I hate you,”
“Love you? Not once ounce”
You burned and raged, heartbroken
Sprouting insults that I can’t count
So you said you hated me as well
I smiled and cried as one
Because now you wouldn’t be crying
You’d be happy I’m done
Now I’m here in heaven
And your way down below
My heart, though not beating, it cries
When I see your head hang low
I failed and was is shame
Because I’d caused great ache
Your heart my heart, you never stopped love
And just for that, for you, I wake.
