In childhood, days seen before,
We played a game of mighty war,
And called it king of the hill.

Climbing, scraping, pushing, falling,
Strategy was only stalling,
And there was no extra time to fill.

The dirt was fresh, the grass was green,
But the sky was rarely seen,
You only look down to kill.

And now we do just the same,
Though it's known of a different name,
War is more dangerous than king of the hill.

I was thinking about war, and how our society doesn't think of it as a bad thing, but actually condones it. This led me to think about how young children fight and play, and whether or not it's like war.
