the light it leaves my sky,
the memory remains,
the dreams tease my soul...
And like every night before, I cry.

I awake in tears of my guilt,
hoping for something,
waiting for anything,
but nothing changes in this darkness I've built

The day brings love back to me,
I am held,
I am hopeful,
And never am I alone to be,

I smile and laugh and speak,
With words of hope,
words of joy,
With every moment I no longer seek,

the consolation I craved,
And yet the sun it falls,
the darkness takes me back,
And once again I am caged...

The terrors taunt my ears,
they scream for me...
they gnaw at me...
they reawaken all my fears...

Darkness comes to greet me,
As i walk this path,
I avoid the traps they've set...
And wait for dawn to free me.
