For the Damned, Elusive, Charmer

I don’t understand.
Why you did this to me
I can’t comprehend.
Why my eyes did not see.

You’re a liar and a thief.
You are evil in flesh!
I hate your sorry soul -
How our hearts did enmesh.

I gave you my heart.
And you let me believe,
You were my perfect man.
I was stupid, naïve.

I came to your side
For advice every day.
I longed for your words,
For my trouble to allay.

But now I know the truth!
That the man I once knew
Is not who you are,
Just an act you debut.

And now, knowing this,
My heart loves no more.
I have wasted my youth
On a man I abhor.

And now, knowing this,
My ears hear no more,
The lies that you spun
And the truth that you tore.

And now, knowing this,
My eyes see no more,
That face, so deceptive
Seems now, like a boar.

And now, knowing this,
My hands feel no more,
The man that oozed falsity
Whom I deemed my savior.

And now, knowing this,
My soul longs no more
For the damned, elusive, charmer
That I learned to adore.

But still, knowing this
My childish heart ever longs
For that time of which you told,
When in your arms, I’d belong.

But still, knowing this,
My childish heart ever yearns,
For that land where you said,
We would dream and sojourn.

But still, knowing this,
My childish heart ever bleeds
For that child we’d have raised,
All our hopes he’d exceed.

But still, knowing this,
My childish heart ever cries
For that home in the green
Where our fears would remise.

But still, knowing this,
My childish heart ever screams
For that day that I thought
You’d fulfill all my dreams.

But now I know the truth!
You are not who you say
While my soul does imbue
You still live another day.

Another day in this world
Another girl to bewitch
Another soul to enslave
Another body to make flitch.

You’re a liar and a thief.
You are evil in flesh!
I hate your sorry soul,
From my life, you I thresh!
