Our hearts follow the cool summer breeze through the yellow fields.
We sit and sip our watermelon tea as you turn to smile at me.

It'll be a while before Margaret gets here.
It'll be some time, so don't fear.
We both know.
We're safe for now.

Slender and supple your fingertips were when you held your hand in hers.
An ache inside makes me turn away, sensing we weren't at all safe.

It'll be a while before Margaret gets here.
It'll be some time so don't fear.
I know you think so.
But I feel so low.

I tread after the summer breezes, away from your teases.
Those smiles weren't what I expected, way too perfected.

It'll be a while before Margaret gets here.
It'll be some time, so don't fear.
Does she know what we've done?
If we did anything at all.
It wasn't what I'd call fun.

The air is still where I stand, my bare feet on guilty land.
I turn slowly to see Margaret standing beside you, sipping some watermelon tea.
