No Poet Inside of Me

I tried to write a poem
To impress and to please you
But, there is no poet inside me
You can see that this is true

I cannot rhyme
I cannot put thoughts onto paper.
I cannot keep time.
I can never be a poet
Not now, not later.

I’m not a Dr. Seuss
Well, there is no use
There is no poet inside me
So now what do I do?

I can write you a story
I can write you a book
Well , I can write you a poem
You just won’t be shook.

I can’t, I just can’t
My poems they are bland.
I really wish I could’ve pleased you.
One day, I hope that I can.

Until then, this will have to do.
I am sorry I couldn't impress you.
There is just no poet inside me.
There is just no poet inside me.

Look at me now
Tell me what you see
I’ll tell you what it is not, a poet
‘Cause there is no poet inside me.

My poem is about trying to please people but, then later finding out that you yourself is enough.
